It Is Time…The Force Awakens

After an arduous journey of spoiler avoidance, I am mere hours away from seeing it….

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I’m in a mild state of denial…the only way I’ve been able to psychological trauma is to just assume that the movie is coming out later.  For months, it’s been “oh, later.  That’s later.  That’s so far away, don’t even think about it.”  But now…now it is time.

While there is still a chance I can be hit with “spoilers” on the drive to the theater, as well as in line, I think I did pretty good.  Here’s everything I’ve seen/heard recently that I consider “spoilers”

(MILD) SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!

-I know what BB-8 is…he was ruined by a rogue yogurt container, but it was probably just a matter of time I came across that one.

-My eyes have pointed at the poster.  I word it that way because I sorta made myself go cross-eyed.  At my work, Drew Struzan, gave a presentation and, being an AV Technician, I was responsible for running it.  So, I was obligated to look at and listen to his entire speech.  In case you don’t know, Drew Struzan is awesome and illustrated and poster you’ve probably had on your wall (Star Wars, The Thing, Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Hook, Muppet Movies, etc)

-Poe Dameron and the design of the T-70 X-Wing and TIE/FO’s.  While I haven’t looked too closely at them, it was either take the hit on this one or stop playing X-Wing.  I am excited, however, to actually get to use the ships in the game (finally!)

-I saw one of the trailers while at work…well, the first image, anyway.  Again, being an AV Technician, I helped an instructor connect his laptop to a projector.  He wanted to test some content while I was present, so I told him “yeah, just go to YouTube and click on whatever.”  Of course, he finds the trailer from a few months ago.  I quickly looked away and explained my situation.  Luckily, he was cool about it and we watched something else.

And…that’s about it.  I’m sure there’s more, but luckily I’ve forgotten about them and have no intention of remembering them.  Luckily, I’m seeing the movie today, as I am on an internet blackout (aside from this post, of course, that one of my blog-mates will share for me).  I almost didn’t get tickets…they ended up going on sale while I was on a flight that didn’t have any Wi-Fi.  After landing, getting in car, sitting in traffic all the way from LAX to Pasadena, buying food, and eating, my girlfriend said “Oh Shit!  Tickets are on sale!” and bought them as fast as she could.

Since I am going to be sitting in line for about 4 or 5 hours, I have a kit put together.  Check it out:

itemsWe’ve got:

-Fashionable Star Wars Tie in case anyone is confused about the film I intend on seeing.

-An engraved flask for….reasons…that I have…

-A Lightsaber with removable crystals!!!  Awwww Yeah!

-In case of in-line spoilers, a Sensory Deprivation Kit (blindfold, earphones,

-USB Power Bank for the Deprivation Kit.

Haha…well…I guess I better get ready…I need to leave in about an hour.  Dude…

I’m….I think the excitement is setting in.  haha…ok, post is over.  I’ve lost all composure.  I hope I can still drive…

I’ll let you guys know how it turns out!!!
